New Feature- Chat

No real news today. Time to tell you about a new feature of this blog, a chat window. If you scroll all the way down, you can now leave messages (you won't have to leave your name or register anywhere to use it). Since there will be official forums eventually (and AutumnalDusk already has a forum up), I thought a chat would be more useful in case you have questions or just want to say anything. I was also thinking about changing the layout of this blog a bit, but to tell the truth, I'm "relatively" happy about how it looks right now. Sure, a better background image would be nice and making the chat more visible would be too, but experimenting a bit with it, the other choices got worse and worse. Well, I will think about it come next week.

Asfer's Find and something about Classes

Asfer made a great find: A video of Forsaken World in English! Head to the Forsaken World Fan Blog to watch it.

Also, a new article on the Chinese forums. This time, it's an article that resolves around classes and what zodiac signs suit which class. If you aren't sure yet what class you would like to play as (like myself), then this might help you a little bit.

Choosing a class is about which one suits your playing style and if you have fun playing it, after all.

Warrior
A Warrior is needed in any team, these soldiers are a symbol for bravery and unyielding power.
Warriors often serve as the team's leader, which requires that they must possess a strong willpower, strong control ability and a fair good heart. Aries because of their firmness, the authority of a Leo, Libra's fairness, can help them become a qualified soldier!

The most suitable constellations: Aries, lions, scales.

Priest

Priests are life-saving angels, priests are a symbol of pure love! (sounds pretty corny xD)
A good priest is welcome in any party, of course, provided that you have the will and kindness needed to help those injured people, but you also have to be psychologically mature and stable because in cases of emergency, you are the one who has to keep a cool head and care for your party. That means a lot of responsibility.
As such, prudent Pisces, Aquarius, and fraternal Cancer has the potential to become a priest.

The most suitable Constellation: Pisces, Aquarius, Cancer.

Mage

A mage is an artist, the carver of elements, but also a destroyer.

To become  a mage you will first have to take command over the magic flying freely between heaven and earth and bring order to it and in order to do so, you need an unruly heart.
At the same time, you cannot become a mage if you don't have extraordinary patience and do not believe in the possibility of learning such complex magic. You will need to be a bit of a perfectionist.
The Freedom of Sagittarius, the perfectionism of the  Virgo, Capricorn's patience makes them good mages.

The most suitable constellation: Sagittarius, Virgo, Capricorn.

Guardian

Guardians are a strong shield and at the same time guard an erupting volcano inside.

Patience, perseverance, timely outbreak is of essential importance for  a guardian.  Exposing the enemy's flaws or taking the damage and protecting the teammate? A guardian often faces problems, as he has one of the most important roles.
Taurus's tenacity and the credibility of Leo, Pisces stability, can help guardians to grow rapidly.

The most suitable constellations: Taurus, Leo, Pisces.

Musketeer

Lord God Yier Fu originally made the Dwarves to be full of stamina and with a strong body to help the Titans in mining ores, Capricorn just meets this feature of the dwarven gunmen, a most approciate zodiac sign.
Dwarf people's talent that has forged their rough exterior hides a heart that delicately pursuits perfection.  Thus, Virgo is also very suitable for dwarves.  Asymmetrical appearance and a heart of serious situation, are also the characteristics of Gemini.

The most suitable constellations: Capricorn, Virgo, Gemini.

Blood Controller

The Blood Tribe is the most mysterious race, Blood Controller is the most mysterious occupation, mysterious Scorpio is a reflection of the Blood Controller.  Aries, a bit of a  Snob, without fear of difficulty, is also very suitable as a Blood Controller. Sagittarius is also advocating the free personality of the Blood Controller, one of the essential qualities.

The most suitable constellation: Scorpio, Aries, Sagittarius.

Assassin

A Gemini's contradictions are embodied in the Assassin's head, both waiting for a stealth attack to strike enemies, but also fighting flexibly and effectively on the battle field. An assassin must always protect their own consciousness, Cancer and Scorpio's mysterious caution is what helps an assassin most likely survive.

The most suitable constellations: Gemini, Cancer, Scorpio.

Bard

Good-hearted, sentimental, with rich artistic abilities, reciting poetry is the natural talent of an elven Bard and with Libra's love for art, friendship, the love for freedom of Aquarius and Taurus' articulation, a Bard is on his best way to become a real musician.

The most suitable Star Sign: Libra, Aquarius, Taurus.

Your Place in History

While Forsaken World has a distinct history of War between Gods, the story that came before is not the end. Because in Forsaken World, it is on you to write a new chapter of history. As soon as Forsaken World launches, you will be set in the age of chaos, but what happens after that is solely up to the playerbase.

Storm Lord's aggression
After three attacks on the world that were repelled, the Lord God of the dark site, seriously injured, finally fell into a deep sleep. In the sleep before the resurrection of the dead God, a half-human was granted the body of the dark dragon king.  Since then, he gained a power comparable to the gods. Bitter at the other beings, he set up his own forces, the self-proclaimed "Storm Lords" as his "Storm Corps". The light Side was powerless to the attacks of the Storm Corps, because their three main Gods were missing. So, the evil Gods launched their first invasion of the mainland.
.

The Resistance
The human race army was not prepared for the invasion, so most of the coast was soon taken and it seemed that the rapid demise of their Kingdom was unstoppable. Soon after, the most powerful human king racine k'ek Imperio in conjunction with other human forces decided on an alliance and finally the invasion of  the Austria Di race was met with an effective resistance.
At this point, other races on the mainland had also started the fight. The first of the blood family ancestors, John Howard ordered all family members to aid the humans.  Subsequently, the giants, elves and dwarves gradually also entered the war. Ultimately, the invasion was stopped, but the old king racine k'ek Imperio met his death in the final battle.

The Situation is still grim
Met by the resistance, the evil God, still thinking about ruling the mainland, but with his first attempt to no avail, sought to break the alliance and the different races apart and sent his minions to infiltrate the mainland and spread disorder and conflict among them.
Meanwhile, that God was also entrusted with another mission; to find a few left artifacts of their Lord God..

In order to resist the invasion of the storm lords, you need to find the Lost Artifacts and the gods of war scattered in the "Godhead" (?), to become the world's strongest, maybe even a god!  What other challenges await you? In order to find that out, stay tuned for Forsaken World!

Note: Just a translation, so not everything may be right. Especially translating the beginning wasn't easy, the part with the Storm Lords wasn't very understandable. I will give you a correct, well-written and much more interesting history of Forsaken World when more news come out, I promise!

March 8th- Chinese website update

No really relevant news, but it seems the Chinese website will soon be updated with more information. This means people who can speak Chinese may soon be able to supply us with even more news about Forsaken World.

Apart from that, I am ill and at home and am thus seeking to work on the blog a bit again. If you have any suggestions, feel free to tell me, I am always happy to hear opinions. Apart from that, I also want to bring the Perfect World Podcast to your attention (AutumnalDusk already did) and advise you to listen to it if you are interested in Perfect World's games in general. I am sure you will find a lot of useful information there.

I don't know about you, but I'm happy that Perfect World has evolved so much. They are supplying us with information, they only publish games when they think they are up to standard and they really seem to care. I hope to reinforce my good impression when Forsaken World finally comes, but so far, I think they are doing a really good job communicating with their playerbase (although the delay of BoI's beta was a bit of a short notice in my opinion). Well, hope to bring you some articles about Forsaken World's features again soon, if you have any topic that would interest you, feel free to tell me and I will try to find some information about that topic.

25th March- closed beta for Chinese players

Today, it has been announced that the 25th March will be "the" day for Chinese players! All of them that were lucky enough to get in will be able to look forward to playing Forsaken World very soon. I hope we can anticipate more news soon too. But it was said at the beginning that the launch of Forsaken World would be very close together for both Eastern and Western market, so I am very hopeful.

I'm sad that I can't speak Chinese (then, I would have tried to get into the Chinese closed beta). But, as you may remember, there is someone who can speak Chinese and has been supplying everyone with information: Cinderboy. Today, he released Features, Part 3. It is a much more accurate translation of the features I have been trying to introduce you to in the last three posts.
So check it out: HERE

Well, as always, my best wishes for everyone who is interested in Forsaken World,  should I see any sign that our closed beta is near, I will be sure to immediately let you know.

A Gift from the Stars

The third one for today. Remember, translating is a bit bad, sorry for that. English isn't my first language, so it's very hard for me to understand the google translation. Don't forget to vote on the poll if you have the time, thanks.

In "Cauldron mainland",  there exists a huge star wheel. It exists at the end of the world and a new star might appear any time in that "star wheel" (star constellation?). Each star represents one deity, when that God dies or falls, the star will fall accordingly. With fallen stars everywhere, debris become the continent's most popular strengthening stone for players.

To become a good fighter in Forsaken World, it is important to sharpen your weapons by enhancing them. This will increase their power greatly. To do that, you will need the debris. That debris is used when enhancing the weapon and gives you a higher chance of succeeding the more of them you use to enhance (remember, weapons won't break nor lose their past enhancements!).  The strengthening stone has two forms- "Star debris" and "star crystallization". It seems Star crystallization enhances your weapon, while star debris raise your success chance.

Obtaining that debris seems to be possible without the item shop. You can obtain them from boss battles, for example, but also from the foresee system (look in features) if your luck is good enough. There is also a daily event  at Freeport (Run, Lola, Run!) where you can obtain them.

Trading in Forsaken World

The second one.

To get rich in the game you actually don't have to do much. "Cauldron mainland" has an independent and complete business system running, easy round for you if you dream of getting rich!  An important part of that business system is of course trading.

Opening the character's backpack, players can very clearly see that items are stored separately according to three broad categories: general items, task items, trade items. General items are usually things like equipment, potions, etc.. Those things can of course be traded. If you plan on getting rich, it would also be a good idea to get familiar with "the trade bar". The following information is displayed there: the current "trade currency" number trade goods icon, name and purchase average price. It seems many places will have a trading district, where you can buy goods. Especially "mercury" is a large trade district and in game, most markets are operated by that district, so you will often have to use the "Mercury currency".

After the players come to Freeport, they will be able to trade in fairs throughout the run between buying and selling.  Once mastered, the vice occupation "merchant" will be able to get more business capability to dramatically improve the efficiency of running business.
In different regional trade fairs, not only the characteristics of different types of output products, best-selling products are also different.  As players can imagine, coastal city of Freeport is certainly rich in a variety of seafood, is located and because of its strategic location, military-related goods are certainly very popular!  With the game change of era, regional specialty and the best-selling products are likely to change, run by each player.

It's very important for a merchant to establish a good network of connections, to sell goods at a good price. Without  friends located in other maps who all need different goods, you can't run a good business nor improve efficiency.
Trade fair is not only located in a large map, but will be distributed in various associations within the base.  If you happened to be a member of this Association, will be able to enjoy more convenience and benefits of trade.

Players that have successfully made a deal can trade the surplus money in the game for normal gold coins (we talked about the two currencies, remember?) Selling to NPCs, if you are an experienced businessman, can be rewarding too, as you can use commands like "bargain", "shill bidding" and many more to earn more profit.

Sorry for the bad translation, I hope you got the gist of it. It seems trading, selling and buying will be very interesting in Forsaken World.

Some information about mobs

Three new posts in the Chinese forum's news section today.

When entering "Cauldron mainland", you will find that many mobs have prefixes before their names, like "brave", "wretched", "bloodthirsty", "thin" ... ... there will be perhaps 78 such different prefixes and the ability of the mobs will be different according to them.

If you look closely, you will find in the depth of a group of mobs the Boss. That Boss looks like the others, but his title is "elite". Do not be intimidated by it, because if you beat it, you might get new armor and rare drops. While special, the elite mobs are just a strange stronger sort of normal mobs.

Their strength will be so that a player can challenge and beat them. Elite mobs are more likely to drop rare items, such as blue-quality equipment (or green) and other items.  In addition, each one will 100% drop "Exchange stone debris", which you, after you collected a certain number of, can exchange for using a free port terminals.

Construction News: An Interview and some Changes

As you may have seen, the navigation widget is now on the right side. There are some important changes I want to tell you about.

1.: Classes.
Classes are now an extra website. That website will be expanded with guides, screenshot, footage...

2.Interviews.
I hope to interview both players and Forsaken World staff (later on).The first interview, this time with Forsaken Journal's author AutumnalDusk is already posted, so check it out!

3.Roleplaying.
I was originally hoping to make this an "interactive" diary. But I am far from that. That is why I decided to make a page where I will post about my character's history and experiences in Forsaken World. But the roleplaying section will open much later on, so at the moment, it is a "work in progress".

And don't forget to check the "Blog Archive" link way down on the right site of the blog, in case you want to read some older posts. It is a bit hard to see right now, I hope to move it to a more visible place during the next week.

More about the Bard- a class that needs skill to play

"News" in the Chinese forums. This time, I can tell you  a little bit more about the Bard:

Cauldron mainland's (Chinese name for "Forsaken World") innovative new class "Bard" immediately drew the attention of a large number of players. Many players are eager to enter the "Cauldron mainland" holding a harp, playing music to injure the enemy or cure their teammates.

But the Bard's "music skills" need skill to master: Players need to play the exact notes of  a "music interface" in order to mobilize the skills.  To be able to better control the Bard job in the upcoming test, some players even use the Spring Festival holidays to learn music or enroll in musical schools. The player's enthusiasm is surprising, there will be many new musicians born in the game.
The scores of the game are simplified, even without musical knowledge, as long as you carefully find the law, you will certainly become a good minstrel!

Shortly after the Spring Festival, "Cauldron mainland" is about to launch the world's first IC packaging and testing...

An Introduction to Skills

Unfortunately, nothing new. No news on the Chinese forums either. And only one vote on the poll so far. Come on people, I start feeling like talking to myself (worse yet, I feel like a psychopath who is constantly mumbling crazy things to himself).
Well, this is something I found somewhere in the Chinese forums, a small introduction to skills. As always, remember that google translation is horrible, so don't expect exact wording.

It seems each class has skills that are divided into three sections (trees? Think of WoW). Let's take the Bard as example. The Bard has one skill department that focuses on group support capabilities (buffs), mobility, flow control. Another one focuses on magical attacks and crowd control, a third one on assisting others (healing?) and debuffs. You will probably have to decide which skills from which department you want to learn (I don't think you will be able to learn them all), so it will be possible to create a Bard that focuses on group play, while another Bard has deadly attacks that are good for pvp. So it's a matter of what you want in your character.

It also seems that Bards magical attacks are mostly water/ice attacks (would be interesting to know if elements play a role in Forsaken World, like water is weak against element x and so on...) I also found what I think is a list of skills for the Blood Controller. As you may have figured out already, Blood Controller will focus on, unlike the Bard, dark magic.

As such, they have skills to give attacks a dark attribute (which furthers my assumption that elements will play some kind of role), but they also have dark magic, a blood sucking skill (drain your enemy and heal yourself) and various skills to strengthen your attack, reducing cooling time and much more.

If you want more information (and maybe are considering playing as a Blood Controller), you can find a rough translation of the skills here (<--- click on the "here"). If you are really interested in becoming a Blood Controller, make sure to visit AutumnalDusk's blog, as it focuses on that special class.
I hope to bring you more exciting news soon, don't forget to take the time to vote on the poll!

Poll added

Not a lot of news today, so I decided to let the community speak. I know most of you are still waiting for some definite news from Perfect World, or some are just mildly interested and are waiting for the game to come out to confirm that you either like/dislike it. Still, I think it would be interesting to know what class you look forward to the most.

I don't know about you, but I was baffled that there is no archer. Sure, the musketeer fulfills the ranged class, but I like classes with a bow and arrow. Though there are still chances for classes being added later on.

In the Chinese forums, the possibility of a Centaur race coupled with an Archer-like class was discussed. But it might also be that more classes for both Titan and Dwarf will be added, as both only have one class to choose from so far.

Well, the classes we have right now are pretty interesting, so I am sure you will find a class to your liking. Happy voting and I hope to bring you more exciting news soon.

Community Spotlight: The Dwarf

Today, there aren't any important news, so it's a good chance to introduce you to the Dwarves a bit more. The Dwarf, a playable race in Forsaken World, can only become a Gunner (musketeer), but the female Dwarf's looks might make it a rather popular class.

Dwarves are the most technically advanced race and because of their short body and tough skin, they can adapt to extreme situations and are a rather enduring race. But not only their strength makes them to fine craftsmen and excellent miners, forgers or blacksmiths. Dwarves possess great wisdom and a sharp mind. Though they are not good with magic, they developed firearms to cover this disadvantage. In Grand Mundo, Dwarves are the most industrious race and thus get along well with the humans, as both share a love for technology and are very creative. However, it seems their relationship with elves is strained, as both races are complete opposites.

You can read a rather rough translation of their history here: link
I originally wanted to translate the history, but the google translation is very bad, so some important parts are hard to understand.
